About
Hi! I'm Kevin Schweikert, a software engineer with a media technology background and a passion for coffee, neapolitan pizza and photography.

I've studied media technology at the university of applied sciences in Hamburg, Germany.
During my studies, I worked as a freelance event technician, where I first got in touch with my current employer. In 2020, I joined Intermediate Engineering GmbH as a working student and gradually worked my way up to becoming a software engineer. We build custom software products for media installations, primarily written in Elixir.
That wasn’t my original plan when I started university. Back then, I simply wanted to do something related to media and technology. Programming was just one of many classes. That changed when my roommate showed me how to build a web app with a REST API in Node.js. From that moment on, programming became more and more interesting to me.
For a while, I thought I had found my happy place with Go. But it wasn't until I discovered Elixir and functional programming. Since then, I’ve been living on the BEAM and advocating for it at work whenever I can.
I really appreciate the spirit of open source. I’m active on the Elixir Forum and GitHub, and I try to give something back to the community for all the amazing tools I get to use every day and for free.
Outside of programming, I spend most of my time on pizza, coffee, and photography. If you’re interested in gear, check out the Uses page.
